Redeemer Missions We’d love to invite you to listen to “Reaching North Africa from Southern Spain” in our Stories from the Nations podcast. In this episode, you’ll learn about how God is using our newest global church partner Iglesia Bautista Fe (@ibfe_sevilla) to reach the nations! You can listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

Redeemer Missions Drive into Seville, and one of the first things you notice is La Giralda—the bell tower rising above the city skyline. This tower tells the story of religion here. Originally, this tower was built as a minaret attached to the mosque in the 12th century when Arabs ruled over the city, but in the centuries following the Catholic conquest, it was converted into a bell tower. As you continue walking down the streets, you’ll smell the sweet aroma of citrus as orange trees line the roads. Continue walking, and you’ll notice that there’s an interesting mix of architecture: both Spanish and Arab — places like Real Alcázar — a former royal palace — trace back to the times of Arab rule in Spain. All across the city, Catholic and Islamic influences sit side by side. They’re neighbors. And if you just drive a few hours south of Seville, you’d be at the Strait of Gibraltar — about 9 miles of ocean separating Spain from Morocco — another neighbor. Listen to “Reaching North Africa from Southern Spain” our new episode of Stories from the Nations on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

Redeemer Missions Our next episode of Stories from the Nations releases Wednesday! 🇪🇸 Join us as we hear about what God is doing in Spain and how he is building his church. If you haven’t listened to our previous episodes, now is a great time to catch up! Listen to stories of God’s work around the world wherever you get your podcasts.

Redeemer Missions If you live in the South, chances are most of you passed a church while driving today. Probably more than one. There’s a reason why it’s called the Bible belt, right? In the morning, I often walk past four different churches in the first 10 minutes. My guess is that most of us had a conversation with at least one Christian today. We pray in restaurants before a meal. We hear Christian music playing while shopping. We have to get to church 10 minutes early to make sure we get decent parking. But in much of the world, that kind of gospel access isn’t normal. So, what does it look like to be a believer in a country where being a Christian is an anomaly? And how can someone even become a Christian in a country where there are only a handful of churches and most people have never even met a believer? Listen now on all platforms to hear Julia & Abdul’s story.

Redeemer Missions Every year, our church visits New Life Church (@newlifechurch_trnc) on a short-term trip to Cyprus. We’re so grateful for global church partners who make the gospel visible in their own city. This upcoming spring, we’ll be offering a trip to visit the Doubs and Parkers in late May / early June. If you’re interested, send us a DM or reach out to the missions team! If you haven’t heard it already, we recently published “Church Planting on the Island of Cyprus”, a new podcast episode on Stories from the Nations. You can find it on Spotify or Apple podcasts!

Redeemer Missions Why would a family become missionaries in a place where others told them planting a church would be impossible? Why would they restart their lives in a foreign place, with young kids, without knowing a single person, if there was such a bleak outlook? Most people told them it couldn’t be done — that planting a church there would be a waste of time. And then they moved anyway. Listen now on all platforms to hear Jonathan & Katie Doub and Dave & Dorothy Parker’s story.

Redeemer Missions The Hutchens live in the city of Fukuoka. It’s a modern, vibrant city along a beautiful, serene coast. And it’s one of the only cities in the country that has a rising population. Where the Hutchens go to church is almost the complete opposite. The family of six hops in their van and drives about an hour south into Saga city. As the Hutchens drive, they enter a valley and are surrounded by a multitude of rice fields. Saga is known as one of the most rural areas of Japan. It’s also the most unchurched area of Japan. Only 1% of the population there identifies as an evangelical Christian. Out of about 230,000 people in Saga, most of them have never met a Christian, gone to church, or heard the gospel before. And most of them will never meet a Christian unless a Christian comes to them. Those Christians are the Hutchens, and their fellow church members at Saga Bible Church. The church was started by Irie Sensei. For the past 20 years, he pastored in Fukuoka — the same city where Aaron, Halley, and their kids live. He was saved in college, and he’s been establishing churches in Japan ever since. And now, for the last 4 years, he’s been leading a church in a city that is a stranger to the gospel.
